Every week, I come up with a Thai's Teaser. Sometimes, it comes easily because something is going on in the news that just screams "Puzzle!", like Leap Day or primary election season. (What? That doesn't scream "Puzzle" to you?)
Other times... well... I get a wicked case of puzzlers' block, and no amount of caffeine will help. But in reality, there are puzzles all around you. You just have to look. And occasionally think outside the box.
So are you ready? Here we go. What's the next number in this sequence?
17, 23, 5, 18, 20, 25, 21, 9, 15...
The answer's after the break...
If you worked on this puzzle while you were at a computer, the answer might have been right under your nose... or at least right under your fingers.
As you may have guessed, there is no mathematical relationship between the numbers. I know, I know; I hear you screaming "That's not fair!". But if you notice that all the numbers are less than 26, and convert them to letters using their ordinal number (i.e., A=1, B=2, ...), you get:
Q, W, E, R, T, Y, U, I, O...
Take a look at your keyboard and you get... P = 16.
